What Are The Two Coaching Access Options?
Last updated: August 17, 2026
The Coaching Access allow you to limit who can use any of the coaching features that you have enabled in your instance. There are two Coaching Access options -- Unrestricted and Restricted -- which are covered in more detail in this article.
Required permissions:
The Organization: Edit permission is required to set the Coaching Access preference.
Unrestricted
Unrestricted is the default Coaching Access setting.
When this option is selected, all users will be able to access all coaching features that you have chosen to activate in your instance.
Restricted
The Restricted Coaching Access option allows you to grant select employees the ability to use Ambition's coaching features. Only the Sessions managers, Co-Coaches, and their direct reports will have access to coaching features in which they're a participant. Anyone with Coaching: All Access can also view these coaching events.
Restricting coaching feature access is appropriate when there are only a select number of employees, teams, and or divisions who plan to use Ambition for their coaching motion.
Restricting coaching access is not a substitute for adjusting a manager's create/edit/visibility permissions for a specific coaching feature.
If your goal is to prevent certain users in your organization from accessing a specific coaching feature, those changes would be made at a permission set level rather than by changing the Coaching Access selection.
