How Do I Create a Coaching Cadence?

Cadences are multi-Session coaching flows that help managers guide employees through a consistent plan for a defined purpose, such as onboarding, skill development, performance management, or other initiatives.
Instead of relying on one-off Sessions, Cadences ensure that all employees access the same sequence of coaching steps, learning content, expectations, and follow-up at the appropriate time.
This article will explain how you can create a coaching Cadence.
Required permissions:
The Coaching Cadences: Create Cadence permission is required to create a Cadence.
The Coaching Cadences: Can Add and Manage Employees in a Cadence permission is required to enroll and remove employees from Cadences.
Users with Coaching: All Access permission can create Cadences and enroll any employee in a Cadence.
Access the Cadence Creation Page
Go to Coach --> Cadences --> + Create Cadence.
You'll be taken to the Cadence Details page.
Enter the Cadence Details
Enter a name and description for the Cadence in the Cadence Name and Description fields, respectively.
Optional: Use the Objective field to enter the Cadence's purpose.
Use the How often are the steps? header to pick the Cadence Steps' frequency.
If you chose Week, select the day(s) on which the Cadence Steps will be released. Cadence Steps will always open at 8:00 AM in the employee's time zone.
If you chose Month, you'll enter the dates when enrolling employees.
Under When are the steps due?, choose when employees must complete each Cadence Step: Before the next scheduled step or After X day(s).
Use the Employees progress to the next step field to determine when an employee will receive the next Step's agenda: Automatically, even if the step is incomplete or When the manager marks the step complete.
Click on Add Metrics.
Optional: Choose Metrics for Measuring Employee Performance
Use the Cadence Metrics menu to select up to 10 Metrics that to track for employees enrolled in the Cadence. These metrics will be used in the Cadence Effectiveness line graph and Employee Performance table.
Click on Add Steps.
Add the Cadence Steps
Click on Add Agenda.
Enter a name for the first Step in the Step Name field.
Select an Agenda Item from the Add Agenda Item menu.
Use the Optional/Required toggle to designate an Agenda Item as optional or mandatory to answer. At least one Agenda Item must be required in each Step.
Click on the Add Agenda Item menu again to add more Agenda Items. There is no limit to how many Agenda Items can be added to a given Step.
Tap and drag on the grid icon next to each Agenda Item to rearrange the order of Agenda Items.
Click on Next after you've added all Agenda Items for the first Step.
Optional: Enter guidelines for managers in the Add Coaching Instructions field. These are only visible to the manager, not the employee.
Click on Save Step.
Use the plus sign icon to add more Steps. There is no limit to how any Steps can be added to a cadence.
Tap and drag the grid icon next to a Step's name to move it before or after other Steps.
Once you've added all Steps, click on Add Ratings.
Add the Cadence Ratings
Use the Rating Categories menu to select which metrics that you would like managers to score the employee's performance against.
Click on Save --> Save as Draft to save the Cadence and edit it later. Click on Save --> Save and Open to publish the Cadence.
If you clicked Save and Open, you'll be taken to the Cadence Overview page.
