Add Group Managers

Group Managers

A group manager is not required, but there is also no limit to the amount of managers a group can have.

Listing a user as a manger of a group creates a manager relationship with all the group members. A group manager will be made a manager over all the group members. Learn more about what it means to be a manager in Ambition here.

A user can be both a member and manager of a group if they need to function in a player + coach capacity. It is important to note that if a group's manager is also included as a group member, any data they contribute or do not contribute will be accounted for in the group's totals.

Add a Manager

1. Open the left navigation and click Administration > People > Groups.

2. Upon accessing the Groups tab, you will see the Group Manager.

If you can have permission to "Edit All Groups", then all group types and groups that your organization has created will be found here.

If you have permission to "Edit Subordinate Groups", then only group types that contain groups where you are listed as a manager of will be found here. You will have visibility and access to editing groups where you are listed as a manager.

3. Select the respective group type and then the group's name where you wish to add a group manager.

Why doesn't the group have a "Created By" user listed? Groups created through CSV upload, Salesforce Attribute sync, or the User API won't have a creator listed.

Alternatively, you can access the group editor through a group's dashboard.

Access the dashboard of the group you wish to edit.

↳ You can search for a specific group's dashboard by name through the search bar in the upper left.

Click the "Edit Group" button.

    You will be navigated into the group editor.

4. Click on the the Managers tab, and then click the Add Managers button.

5. Search for and select the user(s) that you wish to add as managers of the group.

Users without the "Users: Assign Managers" permission will see all users who have the manager permission set in Ambition under the "Available" tab.

Users with the"Users: Assign Managers" permission will see all users listed under the "Available" tab regardless of if they already have the manager permission set in Ambition. Selecting and adding a user who does not already have manager permission will automatically assign manager permissions to non-managers.

Existing group managers will not show in the "Available" or "Selected" user lists.

6. Click Add Managers.

Newly added managers will now appear under the group's managers tab.
