What are default metrics?
On every dashboard, there is a "Metrics" tab that will display data for specific metrics based on the default view.
The metrics shown using the Ambition default views:
- If a user has a scorecard set up, the metrics that are a part of the user's scorecard will display by default. If no scorecard is set up for a user, the first 25 metrics, alphabetically will display by default.
- By default, group and managerial dashboards will display the collective scorecard metrics for members, and the organizational dashboard will the first 25 metrics, sorted alphabetically.
Ambition allows for users with system admin permission to update the default displayed metrics at the group dashboard level.
The metrics shown using an admin saved default view:
- If a user is part of a group where a custom, default metric view has been saved, the new defaults will display instead of the Ambition defaults (scorecard metrics or first 25 metrics alphabetically). If a user is a part of multiple groups where custom, default metrics have been selected, every metric that is a part of a saved default view will display.
- Group dashboards that have a custom, default view saved will display the default view.
Which dashboard types support saving a default view?
All group dashboards, ex. role, team, location, support a user with admin permissions being able to save a default view.
The organization, managerial, and user dashboards types can be updated upon each viewing by any user that can view the dashboard, but those selections are not saved.
Save Default View
1. Navigate to any group dashboard, ex. role, team, location, and click on the "Metrics" tab.
2. Click Select Metrics.
3. Search for and select the metrics that you wish to be the default view for the respective group's metrics tab.
If your organization uses scorecards and this is the first time you are saving a default view, the "Default Metrics" and "Scorecard Metrics" will be the same (the Ambition default is to display scorecard metrics). Clicking "All" twice will clear out the existing selections and you can create a truly custom default view!
4. If you wish for a metric card to display on the group dashboard's metric tab even if there is no data for the given time frame, select to "Show metrics without data".
This selection applies to the group dashboard only. Users will not be shown metric cards that do not have data.
5. Click Save as Default View once you have selected the desired metrics.
6. Confirm your default choices by clicking, Save and Update Default Settings.
The new, default metrics will update to reflect the saved selections.
Restore Ambition Defaults
1. Navigate to the group dashboard, ex. role, team, location, where you want to restore the Ambition default view, and click on the "Metrics" tab.
2. Click Select Metrics.
3. Click Reset to Ambition Default View.
4. Confirm the rest by clicking, Save and Update Default Settings.
The displayed metrics will update to reflect the Ambition default selections.
