Users, Groups, and Permission Sets
After customizing your organizational settings, you should build out your organization's Ambition hierarchy and permission sets for users at various levels in the hierarchy.
Adjusting Permission Sets
Before adding users and creating groups, we recommend first determining what permissions should be assigned to organizational, admins, and individual users in your instance.
System Permission Sets
Ambition has three system permission sets:
- Employee
- Manager
- Admin
The admin permission set cannot be changed and includes all available permissions with the exception of "Coaching: All Access".
The manager and employee permission sets can be customized to your organization's needs.

Custom Permission Sets
Ambition offers the ability to create custom permission sets as well, but note custom permission sets can only add permissions. To take away a permission, the changes would be made to system permission sets.
For example, a person in sales enablement may need to create managed programs and check-in templates for the entire organization, but they don’t need full manager or admin access. A custom permission set with the precise extra permissions can be created to allow for more specific access rather than upgrading an employee with manager or admin permissions.

Individual Access
In addition to system and custom permission sets, Ambition allows users to receive specific levels of individual access. Individual access is ideal for situations where a specific user needs one or two specific additional permissions.
For example, a member of the ETL team needs access to data integrations in order to access an API authorization token. Rather than grant full admin access or create a custom permission set that won't be needed for any other team members, the ETL team member can be given the specific permission of "Integrations: Edit" in order to access the needed API token.

Adding Users
Adding users is a critical step in getting Ambition configured. Ambition only processes data for the users currently in the platform, making user set up a prerequisite for data integration.
- If you're integrated with Salesforce, we recommend you manually sync users from Salesforce or automate account activation based on user profile attribute.
↳ Users can also be uploaded via CSV, and the CSV will require a column of Salesforce Usernames.
- If you're uploading less than 15 users, we recommend adding users manually.
- If you're uploading more than 15 users, we recommend CSV upload.
Grouping Users Within Ambition
Ambition uses a type-based hierarchical model to organize your users into teams, divisions, offices, competitions and more.
