Ambition Triggers
An Ambition Trigger is a data-driven push notification, commonly used to recognize a person/group for reaching a metric or record level threshold.
Triggers can also be used as a means of proactive notification when Metric thresholds are not being met.
This article is meant to serve as a comprehensive guide to creating Triggers.
We recommend walking through the entire document if this is the first Trigger you've created. If you need to navigate to a specific step of Trigger creation, select the appropriative step:
Create a Trigger
1. Create a new trigger via the quick actions button or through the left navigation (Reporting > Triggers).
2. Click the green +Create Trigger button.
3. Fill out the Trigger form.
Completing the Trigger Form:
1. Basics
Name: This is what will appear when the Trigger fires.
Description: Explain what behavior the Trigger is recognizing. Helpful for when looking at a Trigger named "You're on Fire!" and see the description is labeled "100+ Activity Score".
2. Frequency
Notification Frequency: Options allow for customization regarding when you want to receive the notification.
3. Target Users
Who should this Trigger fire for? User will refer to an individual.
Real-Time would stay true to it's name in firing as soon as the criteria is met.
Daily provides a Time drop down so you can select the hour of your notification.
Weekly will generate a Day and Time option. Great for mid-week of end-of-week check ins.
End of Month notifications are great for assessing month totals and goals.
4. Logic
When selecting the Trigger Type you have 2 options: Metric or Record.
Only Real-Time Triggers (NOT daily, monthly, or End of Month frequencies) can access the Record Type option.
Metric would be an appropriate choice if you want an alert when a threshold is crossed, while Record will alert every time a Record is received that fits the criteria.
Metric Type Triggers will monitor existing metrics for thresholds and milestones.
use case: Trigger when 10+ Discovery Meetings have been set.
Record Type Triggers will scan incoming records for a specific behavior. You will need to know the object and fields that you want to access.
use case: Trigger every time a Discovery Meeting is set by a User.
Metric Field -- Value vs Target
If you have Activity Scores turned on you will have the option to create Target-based Triggers for individual users based on the Activity Score's timeframe.
A Value-based Trigger will be based on an absolute number like who can make over 60 Calls today; whereas, a Target-based Trigger will be based on a relative number like the Activity Score of who can make over 80% of their individual Call target today.

5. Notifications
Here you can customize who is going to be notified and how that notification will occur.
Multiple means of notifications can be utilized on a single Trigger!
Notification Options:
My Email Address - an email will be sent to the Trigger creator's email address.
Employee Email Address - a drop down will appear listing all Users with active Ambition accounts. Great for notifying multiple Managers on a single Trigger.
Custom Email Address - use for any one/any group who needs to receive Trigger updates, but DOES NOT have an Ambition account. ex. salesteam@yourcompany.com or vpsales@yourcompany.com
Trigger Initiator Email Address(es) -- will populate when User is selected as the Trigger's Hierarchy Level. An email will be sent to any User(s) that fire off the Trigger!
Want to see how Trigger Emails will be formatted?
Slack - an option for Real-Time Triggers only. If your Organization has setup the Ambition <> Slack Integration, you will be able to select any public channel from the "Which Slack Channel" drop down menu.
Ambition TV - an option for Real-Time Triggers only. Will send a notification to the respective Ambition TV(s).
If you select an Ambition TV as a Notification, you'll have a few more options to select:
Anthem Volume: Determine the volume of the YouTube video (not the TV's volume). You can now set a Trigger's Intro/Anthem volume so that more important Triggers are louder than others. Take public recognition to the next level by getting everybody's attention! The choice is yours!
TV Intro Sound: There's currently a five-second "introduction" for each TV Trigger before the Anthem starts playing where we display the details front-and-center. You can now set an optional audio clip (like a gong) to play during this introduction.
TV Anthem Override: A Trigger specific anthem can optionally be used to override any User and Group Anthems set.
Messages
Message: You can opt to include a message on the TV or in your emails. Especially helpful if sending out to individual Users. We offer to dynamically update the message to include the Team, Role, or User's name if you utilize the {{ Entity.Name }} code.
The choices presented in the Template Variables are entirely dependent on the data sent to Ambition and the Type of Trigger:
Records based Triggers can display Record level details
Metric based can display the Entity Name and Metric Value.
Click on the blue Template Variables to automatically copy the respective fields into your Messages.

Images or GIFs can also be included in any non-TV Triggers. Utilizing the provided Markdown syntax, [ Image Name ] (https://image-link.img), you will include the name of the image and the URL. The Image Name is what will appear if the image cannot load or if the user incorporates a screen reader.
4. Click the green Save Trigger button.
