Manage Check-In Rating Categories
When a coaching session is closed out, each check-in has an optional rating (these ratings are scored on a 1-5 point scale). Ratings provide an outlet for managers to give feedback directly to their employees.
The default rating categories for check-ins are Preparedness, Engagement, and Coachability.

Create New Rating Categories
The default rating categories for check-ins are Preparedness, Engagement, and Coachability.
There is currently no limit to the number of ratings that can be created.
1. Open the left navigation and click Coaching > Manage > Rating Categories.
2. Click the + Rating Category Button to Complete the Form.
- Label: This is the name of the rating category. Here you'll type in attributes like Leadership Skills, Preparedness, or Coachability.
- Description: The description will appear in the help text next to the rating category in the check-in. This provides additional context to the rating category for both the manager who is proving the rating and to the employee who receives the rating from their manager.
3. Click Save Rating Category.
Saving a new rating category has 'global' impacts. Therefore, this new category will be shown in all open and future check-ins. It does not impact historical check-in rating averages.
Note: If more than one rating is present, Ambition will take an average of the submitted ratings. This average can be helpful when searching for specific check-ins, as it's a filter in the manage check-in page and exportable in the coaching reports.
Edit Existing Rating Categories
1. Open the left navigation and click Coaching > Manage > Rating Categories.
2. From the category's ellipsis [︙], click Edit.
- Edit the Label (name) that is shown in the check-in ratings.
- Edit the Description that is shown in the check-in rating help text.
Note: Renaming the label of a rating category will rename it in all historical and future check-ins. It will not reset or impact previously submitted ratings.
3. Click Save Rating Category.
Disable Rating Categories
1. Open the left navigation and click Coaching > Manage > Rating Categories.
2. From the category's ellipsis [︙], click Edit.
3. Toggle the Active switch to Inactive.
4. Read the Warning Modal before clicking Confirm.
This change will remove the rating category from all historical and future check-in ratings. If you to preserve the historical ratings, we recommend exporting your coaching data prior to disabling the category.
Note: If you'd like to bring this rating category back, follow the same steps above to turn it to active. This will also bring back any historical rating data to the historical check-ins.
