  • The Ambition Scores: Edit permission is required to set a Scorecard metric as Lower-is-Better.

Lower-is-Better metrics are Scorecard metrics where a lower result reflects stronger performance, such as fewer errors, shorter response times, or reduced overdue activity. Use them when you want employees to earn more credit for keeping a metric below a target rather than exceeding it. This article will explain how you can mark a Scorecard metric as Lower-is-Better.

Designate a Scorecard Metric as Lower-is-Better

  1. Go to Admin --> Scorecards.

  2. Go to the Select Role section and use the Choose a Role to modify menu to select a Scorecard Role.

  3. Scroll to the Set the Activity Score or Set the Objective Score section.

  4. Click the gear icon next to the metric you plan to modify.

  5. Under Scoring Type, choose Lower is Better.

  6. In the Start Value field, enter the highest scored value. It must be greater than the Scorecard target.

  7. In the Stop Value field, enter the lowest scored value. It must be less than or equal to the Scorecard target.

Save Your Changes

  1. Click Save Scores, then type "I UNDERSTAND" in all capital letters twice to confirm. Your changes will then be applied.

Note:

  • While a metric is set as Lower-is-Better on one Scorecard, it can't be used as a Higher-is-Better metric on another Scorecard.
