What Information Does a Coaching Pre-Read Use?
Last updated: August 10, 2026
Coaching Pre-Read reference multiple data sources, including Scorecard and coaching records for an employee.
This article outlines the data that are used to create a Pre-Read.
Required permission:
The system Manager or Admin permission set or the Coaching: All Access permission is required to generate a Pre-Read.
Co-Coaches can generate a Pre-Read even if they do not have the Manager or Admin permission set.
Required features:
The Coaching: Session Pre-Read feature must be enabled in order to generate a Pre-Read.
Data Used to Generate Pre-Reads
Pre-Reads take the following information into consideration:
An employee's Scorecard performance for the past three months.
An employee's Goal data for the past three months.
Replies, comments, and Shared Notes tied to previous Sessions.
You can set a different time range on the Pre-Read generation page by changing the First Day and Last Day values.
Click on Generate Pre-Read after changing the date ranges if you're generating the Pre-Read for the first time, or click on Regenerate Pre-Read if you need an updated Pre-Read using the new date range.
Note:
Coaching insights are pulled from previous Sessions from the same Program.
If the Session isn't associated with a Program, coaching data from Sessions using the same template will be used.
If no template is used for the Session, you may see a "No coaching history available" message.
Information Not Used to Generate Pre-Reads
Pre-Reads will not consider the following information:
Private Notes
Attachments to Shared and Private Notes, including PDFs and DOCX files
Out-of-Office scheduling (unless Proration has been applied to the employee's Scorecard)
If you would like an attachment or Private Note to be included in a Pre-Read, copy and paste the contents of the attachment or Note into the comment box of a previous Session. Do not move sensitive information from a Private Note to a Shared Note solely to include it in the Pre-Read.
You can also turn off the Privacy toggle on the Private Note so it becomes a Shared Note.
Pre-Reads do not use an employee’s Out-of-Office dates directly. They use the employee’s prorated Scorecard totals instead. If an employee’s time out of office is not reflected in their Pre-Read, ask an administrator to confirm that Proration has been applied to their Scorecard.
