Why Can't I Save My Scorecard Changes?
Last updated: November 6, 2026
The Save Scores button stays grayed out until every metric on the Scorecard has a valid target and weight. A message will appear beside any metric that needs to be fixed.
Use the guides below to learn how to troubleshoot common issues that could prevent you from saving your Scorecard updates.
Required permissions:
The Ambition Scores: Edit permission is required to edit and save a Scorecard.
Fix Weight Errors
Percentages must total 100%: The weights in the Set the Activity Score or Set the Objective Score section don't add up to 100%. Adjust the weights until they do.
Importance must be greater than 0%: A metric has a weight of 0. Give it a weight or remove it from the Scorecard.
Fix Target Errors
Target must be greater than 0: Higher-is-Better metrics need a target above 0.
Target must be greater than or equal to 0: Lower-is-Better metrics can't have a negative target.
Fix Scoring Range Errors
If you set a Start Value or Stop Value, click the metric's gear icon and check that the values sit on the correct side of the target.
Messages such as Start must be greater than the Target or Target must be between Start and Stop will show which value to change.
Note:
If you see Issue Saving Scorecard! after clicking Save Scores, check that no metric is set as Lower-is-Better on one Scorecard and Higher-is-Better on another. If the error continues, contact GetHelp@Ambition.com.
