What Is an Objective Score?

An employee or Group's Objective Score measures their progress towards longer-term, outcome-oriented goals.

How Is the Objective Score Calculated?

The Objective Score is a weighted calculation based on the metrics on an employee's Scorecard. The target Objective Score is always 100 points.

For the example calculations below, assume that the Sales Development Representative (SDR) monthly Objective Scorecard includes the following metrics and metric weights:

  • Closed Won New Business: 5 per month, worth 25% of the Objective Score; 5 Objective Score points per Closed Won deal with a new client.

  • Closed Won Expansions: 2 per month, worth 25% of the Objective Score; 12.5 Objective Score points per Expansion with an existing client.

  • New Revenue Generated: $100,000 per month, worth 50% of the Objective Score; 0.0005 Objective Score points for every dollar generated.

Example 1: Achieving 100 Objective Score Points

  • Closed Won New Business deals: 5 (5 * 5 points) = 25 points

  • Closed Won Expansion deals: 2 (2 * 12.5 points) = 25 points

  • New Revenue Generated: $100,000 (100,000 * 0.0005 points) = 50 points

  • Objective Score calculation: 25 + 25 + 50 = 100.

Example 2: Achieving 72.5 Objective Score Points

  • Closed Won New Business deals: 4 (4 * 5 points) = 20 points

  • Closed Won Expansion deals: 1 (1 * 12.5 points) = 12.5 points

  • New Revenue Generated: $80,000 (80,000 * 0.0005 points) = 40 points

  • Objective Score calculation: 20 + 12.5 + 40 = 72.5 points
