How Does Proration Affect Metric Calculations?

Last updated: November 6, 2026

Proration helps ensure Scorecard targets stay fair when employees are marked Out of Office during a scoring period. This article clarifies when Proration applies, how prorated targets are calculated, and which metric types are affected.

Required permissions:

  • The Ambition Scores: Edit permission is required to turn Proration on/off for a Scorecard metric.

  • Proration must be enabled for a metric and an employee must be marked as Out of Office for Proration to be applied to a Scorecard Target.

How Is Proration Applied?

Proration is applied to an employee's Scorecard targets based on how many working days they are marked as Out of Office in their Scorecard timeframe.

Proration can be applied to weekly, monthly, and quarterly time frames, but not to daily Activity Scorecards.

Scorecard Proration uses the following formula.

Prorated Target = Original Target * (Number of workdays not marked Out of Office / total number of workdays in the Scorecard timeframe)

Proration Scoring Factors

Proration is affected in the following situations:

  • Ambition does not consider weekends or national/global holidays when calculating the number of working days. Working days are defined as Monday through Friday.

  • Daily targets will be set to 0, whereas weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets will be prorated accordingly.

  • Proration is applied to Custom Targets and metrics' Stop/Start values.

  • Proration is not applied to Lower-is-Better metrics, averaged metrics, and Formula Builder metrics that use multiplication or division.
