How Does Proration Affect Monthly Objective Scores?
Last updated: November 6, 2026
Required permissions:
The Ambition Scores: Edit permission is required to turn Proration on/off for a Scorecard metric.
Required features:
Proration must be enabled for a metric and an employee must be marked as Out of Office for Proration to be applied to a Scorecard Target.
How Is Proration Applied to Monthly Scorecard Targets?
Ambition uses the following formula to modify employees' monthly Objective Score targets:
Prorated Target = Original Target * (Number of workdays not marked Out of Office / total number of workdays in the Scorecard timeframe)
Ambition defines months as calendar months (such as January 1 to January 31) and not as custom periods.
Workdays are defined as Mondays through Fridays. Weekends are not considered to be workdays.
Examples: Proration Applied to Monthly Scorecard Targets
For the examples below, assume that the target is 100 Emails per month and that this month has 22 working days.
Situation 1: Employee Is Out of Office for One Working Day in the Month
Original Monthly Target: 100
How Proration is Calculated: Original Target * (Employee working days/total workdays in the month)
Proration Formula: 100 * (21/22)
Prorated Target: 95.5
Situation 2: Employee Is Out of Office for Five Working Days in the Month
Original Monthly Target: 100
How Proration is Calculated: Original Target * (Employee working days/total workdays in the month)
Proration Formula: 100 * (17/22)
Prorated Target: 77.3
Situation 3: Employee Is Out of Office for All Working Days in the Month
Original Monthly Target: 100
How Proration is Calculated: Original Target * (Employee working days/total workdays in the month)
Proration Formula: 100 * (0/22)
Prorated Target: 0
Note:
If Proration is enabled for a monthly Objective Scorecard metric and the employee is marked as Out of Office for the entire month, then all other monthly targets will be set to 0.
