How Does Proration Affect Quarterly Objective Scores?
Last updated: November 6, 2026
Required permissions:
The Ambition Scores: Edit permission is required to turn Proration on/off for a Scorecard metric.
Required Features:
Proration must be enabled for a metric and an employee must be marked as Out of Office for Proration to be applied to a Scorecard Target.
How Is Proration Applied to Quarterly Scorecard Targets?
Ambition uses the following formula to adjust an employee's quarterly Objective Score targets:
Prorated Target = Original Target * (Number of workdays not marked Out of Office / total number of workdays in the Scorecard timeframe)
Ambition defines quarters as calendar quarters (January - March, April - June, July - September, October - December) and not as custom fiscal quarters.
Workdays are defined as Mondays through Fridays. Weekends are not considered to be workdays.
Examples: Proration Applied to Quarterly Scorecard Targets
For the examples below, assume that the target is 100 New Leads per quarter and that this quarter has 65 working days.
Situation 1: Employee Is Out of Office for Five Working Days in the Quarter
Original Quarterly Target: 100
How Proration is Calculated: Original Target * (Employee working days/total workdays in the quarter)
Proration Formula: 100 * (60/65)
Prorated Target: 92.3
Situation 2: Employee Is Out of Office for 30 Working Days in the Quarter
Original Quarterly Target: 100
How Proration is Calculated: Original Target * (Employee working days/total workdays in the quarter)
Proration Formula: 100 * (35/65)
Prorated Target: 53.8
Situation 3: Employee Is Out of Office for All Working Days in the Quarter
Original Quarterly Target: 100
How Proration is Calculated: Original Target * (Employee working days/total workdays in the quarter)
Proration Formula: 100 * (0/65)
Prorated Target: 0
Note:
If at least one of the Objective Scorecard metrics has Proration enabled and the employee is Out of Office for all working days in the quarter, then all of their quarterly targets will be set to 0. Any contributions towards their Objective Scorecard for the quarter will be ignored.
